A Regional Seminar
On Nuclear Fuel Supply, Reprocessing and Disposal in Asia Held in Beijing
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
A "Regional Seminar on Nuclear Fuel Supply, Reprocessing and Disposal in Asia" co-hosted by China Arms Control and Disarmament Association (CACDA) and Carnegie-Tsinghua Centre for Global Policy was held in Beijing, October 17-18, 2011.
 
Around 40 participants, including scholars and experts in relevant research areas from China, USA, India, Malaysia and Japan, attended the seminar.  Representatives from China National Energy Commission, US Department of Energy (the Office in China) and the US Natural Resources Defense Council presented at the meeting. The seminar received a written statement  from the International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA).
 
The future development of nuclear energy industry in the post-Fukushima era has drawn pervasive attention all around the world.  Under such particular circumstance, the seminar started with the discussions on the subject of "Nuclear Power Development after Fukushima", during which the experts introduced their respective national or regional perspective and programming on nuclear power development.
 
The seminar also touched on the topics of multilateral nuclear fuel supply and reprocess regime. Different views and perspectives were expressed. The experts and scholars appreciated the frank and friendly communication and exchange of views and acknowledged the significance of the seminar
