CACDA Delegation Visited Pakistan

At the invitation of the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI), CACDA  Honorary President Ambassador Sha Zhukang led a delegation to visit Pakistan from October 12 to 20, 2015. Amb.Sha met with Pakistani senior officials including the Chief of the Army, the Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff, the National Security Adviser, Secretary for Foreign Affairs, and the Director General of the Strategic Planning Bureau. The delegation visited organizations based in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore, including ISSI, the Organization for Arms Control and Disarmament Affairs, the National Defense University, the National University of Science and Technology, the Nuclear Security Excellence Center, the University of Karachi, the Institute of Domestic Law Research, Naval Warfare Academy, and Lahore University. They had in-depth discussions on international arms control and disarmament, China-Pakistan relations, China-Pakistan military relations, nuclear energy and security cooperation, international and regional strategic stability, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor among others topics.

On October 13, CACDA and ISSI jointly held a symposium on "Strategic Stability in South and East Asia: China's Constructive Role". Prior to the meeting, Amb.Sha and Amb.Masood Khan, Director General of ISSI, signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between CACDA and ISSI, stipulating that the two sides will establish long-term strategic cooperation, strengthen personnel exchange and research cooperation, and dispatch visiting scholars to each other.

During the visit, Amb.Sha also received an interview with Pakistani state television, elaborating China's policies on China-Pakistan relations and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
