On September 7, 2022, the China Arms Control and Disarmament Association, the China Nuclear Strategic Planning and Research Institute and the Strategic Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences jointly held the second High-level Forum on Strategic Security and Arms Control in Beijing. Hu Side, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and former president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Physics, was invited to deliver a special report on “the Development of Nuclear Weapons and Their Technologies”. President of the CACDA Zhang Yan, Chairman of the board of the China Nuclear Strategic Planning Research Institute Pan Qilong, and representatives from relevant institutes attended the meeting.

Academician Hu Side gave a systematic and comprehensive lecture on the performance of nuclear weapons, the development trend of nuclear weapons technology, and the international nuclear situation. He also had in-depth and interactive discussions with participants on nuclear arms control issues.

President Zhang Yan said that Academician Hu's report is very insightful. It not only introduces the national nuclear strategy and foreign policy of arms control, but also gives very inspiring views, which will serve as a good guidance for national security and arms control study.

Chairman Pan Qilong thanked the participants’ support to the China Nuclear Strategic Planning Research Institute. The Institute will continue to jointly hold the high-level Forum on Strategic Security and Arms Control with the CACDA, to make special contributions to the cause of nuclear arms control.
