On October 19, 2023, Li Chijiang, Secretary General of the China Arms Control and Disarmament Association, was invited to attend the 19th Beijng-Tokyo Forum co-organized by the China Foreign Language Administration and the Genron NPO and delivered a speech on the topic of “China-Japan Cooperation in Building an International Nuclear Security System” at the sub-forum “Nuclear Security”. Yao Yunzhu, former director of the Center on China-America Defense Relations at PLA Academy of Military Sciences, and Yasushi Kudo, chair of the Genton NPO, presided over the sub-forum, which was attended by former government officials and scholars from China and Japan. Li shared his views on the challenges facing the current global nuclear order and exchanged views with participants on other arms control issues.

The “Beijing-Tokyo Forum” is co-organized by the China Foreign Languages Administration and the Japanese non-profit think tank the Genron NPO, which has been annually alternately held in Beijing and Tokyo since 2005. The theme of this year is “Asian Regional Stability and World Peace and Cooperation: The Responsibilities of China and Japan - Reflections on the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship between China and Japan”. The forum is one of the largest and top public exchange platforms between China and Japan.
